Salt
I saw the movie Salt the other day, and I enjoyed the action flick! Angelina Joile was doing things in this movie, that I had never seen on screen before. It most of been fun to film some of these intense stunts. She is beautiful, tough, and just really good at this genre of film making. The movie had a great pace, and moved forward very fast! I couldn't believe it was over, when we got to the end of the film. However, the ending upset me, and I wanted more. Which is a sign of good film making, as I honestly could have sat there for another hour, and watched Angelina kick butt. It was definitely a summer action movie, and served it's purpose at the movie theater. These type of films are not my favorite, but I am learning to take them for what they are, and to sit back, and enjoy this aesthetic! I will say this, Salt had a compelling, thought provoking plot, new action stunts, and great acting! You couldn't go wrong with the team of actors Angelina was surrounded around. Liev Schreiber is one of the the best actors we have in Hollywood, and has proven himself to also be an extraordinary stage actor. Chiwetel Ejiofor is slowly becoming someone in Hollywood to watch out for, and I want to see him as the leading man he so deserves. His talents are so untouchable, and I just love watching his work. I enjoyed Salt, will I own the movie? NO! Did it change my life? NO! Was it entertaining, thrilling, action packed, and does it have good acting? YES!!!!

The Food Fight Begins
One of my favorite restaurants in the world is in Philadelphia, and it is Cuban cuisine. The name of the restaurant is called "Mixto", it has amazing abeyance and the best food ever. Well, twice I have eaten at Cuba Cafe here in New York City in the Chelsea area, and when I tell you the food is so amazing there, and it makes you wanna hit your daddy!!!!! MMMMMMMMM It is freaking good, and it is competing with Mixto big time. However, Mixto has better atmosphere, and salsa dancing on certain nights. Cuba Cafe is very small, but with a cool Cuban feel, and the food just melts in your mouth. I can't decide which one I love more, but I will take my time deciding. Let the food fight begin........

Unexpected Surprise
I had a DVD from netflix sitting on my dresser for about a month. I rented the foreign film "The Maid", and because it had subtitles I didn't want to watch the movie. Although, I heard amazing critical acclaim on the film. Everyday I would walk by it on my dresser, and say that looks nice to myself. However, I could never bring myself to dive into the film. I finally opened that package and put it in my blue ray disc player. I watched the movie, and when I tell you I loved it. I truly did, and wish I would have opened it up sooner. I didn't even realize there were subtitles it was so good. Who ever wrote this crazy film, is genius. It is so not American, and the story line is so weird, crazy, creative, and intriguing. I had a blast watch the psychology of the lead character, and the brilliance of all the actors around her. The storyline, kept moving, and I laughed, and was very curious throughout the whole flick. If you get a chance, and want to see a very disturbing maid in action. RENT "The Maid"!!!!!!

Look Who Came To Town
I was watching the only soap opera that I have been watching since I was a little kid, "The Young and The Restless"! If you read my blog you know I will not stop watching this show, and I don't care how cheesy or bad it gets. I love the "Young and The Restless", and as long it is on the air I will support that soap! The other day, I was watching it, and in comes this beautiful dark skinned vixen. At first I typed cast her, and said "Oh that is so nice they gave this really heavy set, dark skinned, black girl a nice day player role". I was being rude, ignorant, and following the soap opera protocol, as I have never seen anyone who looked like her on any soap. Then as I watched the episode, she kept having more and more lines. Then I saw her in bed with another actor on the show, and thought "What, they cast a big black girl in a re occurring role on a soap opera". YES THEY DID, and it was the most beautiful surprise I have ever seen in my life. "The Young And The Restless" is taking a step in the right direction, and kudos to them for casting the beautiful talented actress. This I think has made my whole week, and made me have faith in the business! Introducing Julia Pace Mitchell, the newest star on my favorite soap. She is so stunning on screen, and yet I will admit her acting isn't quite there yet. As I googled her, and saw her extensive training and resume. I'm sure her acting will get better, as I'm sure she is nervous, and hasn't quite found her soap opera grove yet. You will also recognize her as playing Biggie Smalls babies momma in the movie "Notorious" where her acting is top notch! I hope other soaps follow the "Young and The Restless", lead, and surprise a brotha with an amazing casting choice. It is the year 2010, and I think the world is ready!!!!! Below I posted an interview with the amazing new star of the show, watch and enjoy!

BORED!!!!!
Wow, when they say the summer season for auditioning was slow. That person never told a lie. I am getting bored, and haven't been on a TV/film , play, musical, audition in about two weeks. La La La La La, is what I sing in my mind, as I twiddle my thumbs. I am staying focused as much as can creatively, by reading plays, finding new monologues, and getting my pictures in order. However, I am still bored, and so used to auditioning. I thought maybe if I blogged and cried a little. The universe would hear me, and make an audition fall in my lap soon. How can one book a gig, if there isn't a gig to book????? BLOG WORLD A BROTHA IS BORED!!!!!

Inception
Everyone on my facebook page was like go see the movie "Inception", it is so awesome and brilliant. I listened to my friends, and ran to go see this big budget flick! I must say, and I know I will get flack for this. I didn't enjoy the movie at all. My brain hurt when I finished trying to piece through the movie. My brain was moving so fast, that I never got to relax and enjoy the film. I love the intellectual film, but this was a little over kill for me. Although, the actors were all fascinating, and great at there craft, I found myself falling asleep, and fidgeting in my seat. I didn't care what happened to any of them, and could care less about what was in the safe deposit box, that we spent the whole movie trying to get to. I DID NOT CARE ONE BIT!!!!!! They spent so much time building up the dreams, and how the whole thing worked with the mazes, and mind. That the relationships were not strong enough for me to care about a single character. I tried to care about Leo getting home to his beautiful kids. I tried to care about Ken Wantanbe getting shot, and wanting something from some random persons subconscious. I tried to care that Joseph Gordon-Levitt stole a kiss from Ellen Page. I tried to care about the random British dude, and the random Indian dude. I really did, if they would have dove a little bit deeper into there love and relationships, maybe I would of had some sort of feeling. I will say this Leonardo Dicaprio was the one character I had some type of feeling. The rest was a random mess of people and, they could have all gotten stuck in there dream state! They could have all been stuck in that hole forever, and I still wouldn't care! My positive note is that it is a great cast of actors. The ending was quite brilliant, and I won't give it away. You go make up your own mind on this big block buster. However, I won't be seeing it again!!!!!! I will say this randomly again, still, my favorite movie of the summer thus far is the simple yet beautiful "The Kids Are All Right", run to see that flick!

The Kids Are All Right
Last night, I went to the movies alone, which I tend to do often. Right after my heavy work out, I bought me a soda, and some junior mints, and went to see the movie "The Kids Are All Right"! I was so highly impressed by this little film. It was simple, honest, funny, and beautiful. The writing of this film was so superb, and exactly what I needed last night! I guess how could you go wrong with an amazing cast like Julianne Moore, and Anette Bening! There performances were so tight, pure, and top notch as expected. Mark Ruffalo, was the shocker to me, because lately his movies have been really bad! His performance, was so solid, and I am a huge fan of his again. He just was just so honest, funny, and as he mumbled his way through the movie(it worked), as I believed every single mumble! He also made me want to buy a motorcycle asap. It was great to see America's Next Top Model runner up Yaya DaCosta, on the big screen, she was beautiful, and her acting chops have grown since "Ugly Betty"! The star of the movie to me, was Mia Wasikowska, she was so pure and stunning in this film. I have given many movie reviews on my blog, but I have to say that YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS FILM! I REPEAT YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS FILM! It was everything I ever wanted in a movie, and I loved every moment of this flick!

Mel Gibson
I am a fan of the actor/director Mel Gibson, and I enjoy his work immensely! So he is ranting with his wife, cussing, using the "N" word, and acting a fool! I honestly don't like any of his tone, and his crazy phone conversations! Which I even find more ridiculous that his wife has been secretly recording him. Do I think Mel Gibson is a racist? Hmmm, I think he has a problem, and I think he is saying crazy stuff, and sometimes when drunk, you speak things that are rooted deep in you. So yes I think he has some racism in him. I don't think he hates African Americans or any other cultures. I don't think he is a member of the KKK! I don't think he wants to harm other cultures. I hope I am not contradicting myslelf, and am making some sense. I still hope this isn't the end of his career. I know from growing up with an alcoholic grandmother, that alcohol can be the devil. He sounds like to me, he needs some rehab, and counseling. He has a serious problem, and I send out prayers that he figures it all out! I would miss his Hollywood presence, if he continues down this path. I'm sure producers and studios don't even want to attempt to touch the man right now! I hope he can figure it all out, and put in the work it takes, to come back out on top! I just heard his agency William Morris just dropped Mel Gibson. I believe in redemption, and I hope he has the strength to get some. My prayers go out to Mel and his well being!

The Wolves v.s The Vampire
Interesting enough, I am obsessed with t.v. shows such as True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, and movies such as The Twilight Series. I am drawn to the vampire, and I think it is because, I'm a Scorpio, and my Birthday is so close to Halloween. As a kid for Halloween, I think, I was a vampire like four years in a row. My personality is always drawn to anything that is dark. Now in my watching my favorite pleasure of the Summer "True Blood", they are introducing the werewolf! Just like the "Twilight" Series has, and I'm just waiting for "Vampire Diaries" to do the same. Anyway, I wanna be on some type of Vampire Show, even if it is for a guest spot! This genre, looks like so much fun, to film and be a part of. The interesting thing in my life is how drawn I am to Werewolf, and how I connect with the wolves and there pack on both shows! Hmmmmmm, I think on "Twilight" I wanna play a wolf, and on "True Blood", I wanna play the vampire. While I'm dreaming out loud in this post, I will say "True Blood", still has me caught up in the hype. I'm enjoying every moment of the campy, honest, and thrilling show. I know this post is random, but I'm on this kick of putting your dreams into the universe. I will be not only reviewing things, but I will be also dreaming big in some of my post! I have to practice what I preach, as much as possible! Who do you like blog world, the Wolf or the Vampire????

Photo Shoot
Tracy I am right behind you, as I just took my new headshots yesterday, and I'm nervous as hell about the results! (Sorry Blog World For The Personal Shout Out)! Anyway, headshots are so vital to an actors career, so finding one the relays the essences of who you are as an actor, is a tough task that gives me anxiety. Not only do I have to love them, my manager, and the casting folks have to be obsessed over them. Which put so much pressure on a shoot, that should be relaxed and fun! Luckily, I had an amazing photographer Lesile Hassler, who calmed my nerves down, and kept the energy, fun, professional, and silly! We actually had a blast last night shooting, and taking some shots in the studio, and on location. Now I need that one picture that goes across the casting persons desk, and they basically have an orgasm and call me right in. I don't really worry about having a picture for musical theater, because all the casting people in that genre of the business, know who I am, and my work ethic. As I have been blessed to do many Broadway Musicals. My stress is the T.V. and Film Folks, loving the images portrayed in a my little photograph. Blog World, I get them back next week around Thursday, and I will post some for you to see. I trust Lesile, so I'm sure they will be awesome, but still keep your fingers crossed!

BET Awards
I was late to watch the BET Awards on my tivo, but I was pleasantly surprised by the 2010 Awards Show! I actually start off with some smart comment about "Oh No Time For The Ghetto Awards Show", and as a matter fact, for the past 3 years, they have been one of the best awards show on T.V. The BET Awards really is entertaining and very good!
Chris Brown, was amazing dancer during the Michael Jackson tribute, taken Michaels moves with fluidity, and grace. Dancing his moves to the new millennium, while staying true to the late genius work. Then singing "Man In The Mirror", well attempting to sing it, as he stopped singing from emotion and tears. As the lyrics are so close to his life, being that he beats on women! OUCH, that was below the belt J.R. The real question is was his performance sincere? I don't know how if I bought it, however, I will not doubt the man and his talent. I do believe he is a gifted young performer, and I won't block his blessings.
The Queen, Latifah that is, was an awesome host, being very real, funny, and entertaining.
The audience was filled with beautiful people with there glasses raised, and dancing in the aisles. Partying like no other awards show has ever seen.
The Prince tribute was awesome as every performer was different, as they mastered there rendition from of this iconic genius. Janelle Monae was my favorite, as she captured the essence of the performer, and still keeping to her own style. Alicia Keys was good, until, she climbed up on the piano, and Prince clutched his pearls, as he looked a little frightened. I must admit I was frightened myself, stay true to yourself Alicia next time. Even Prince stated in his speech, you don't have to do what I do! LOL Which Prince' speech was simple but eloquent, and beautiful The tribute ended with the great Patti Labelle, sanging "Purple Rain", kicking off her shoes, and bringing down the house! However, I was very dissapointed that BET chose all women to perform in this tribute. I would loved to have seen Maxwell, or some male up there, to tribute the talented icon!
The best part of the whole awards show for me was El Dabarge, to see one of my favorite childhood icons, still looking good, and sounding amazing. He took me back to Junior and High School! OOOO that gives away my age a little, that slipped out. LOL Debarge was an artist that I connected to in my past, as he has a high falsetto like me, and his look was similar to mine. He surprised me, and stole the whole show for me. YAY BET!
Thank you Black Entertainment Television for staying classy, and keeping the show real, from the heart, fun, and entertaining!

FAITH
Lately, for the past few weeks, my faith has been tested, and I have been going through it! Whether it be career, relationships, friends, or finances. I don't know what it is in the universe, but I believe it is pick on J.R. for a about a month time. I'm conquering this, by living on my faith. I don't know why I am being tested, but I am sure I'm learning a ton from it. At times I feel sad, and at times I'm over joyed, because now that I'm getting older, my faith is so strong. I know that around the corner, everything will be "A" OK! I must admit, GOD, I'm ready for this test to end. If not, I will have faith, and I'm sure I will pass this test with flying colors. Here is to living on FAITH, my friends!

Eclipse
I read all the twilight serious books, and went to the movies to see "Eclipse"! The acting was so horrible, and the writing of the screenplay was terrible! The best actor in the series by far is Robert Pattinson, however, that Taylor Lautner and Kristin Stewart, should go back to class. The new Victoria played by Bryce Dallas Howard was AMAZING, and Xavier Samuels who plays Riley was great addition to the cast!! I always enjoy Billy Burke, and Dakota Fannings brief performance, was brilliant! I just didn't enjoy this movie at all, and it scares me cause the next book is my favorite of all the twilight series. I hope they don't screw it up!!!! We shall see, what they do, I tried so hard to give it the benefit of the doubt. As I know it was meant for teens, and I know it is campy, but they can do so much better. The story is good enough, and intriguing! Well, we shall see what they do as they make the last two books into films. As stated before, the last two books are my favs.........
